Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics is a new independent specialist veterinary orthopaedic clinic based in Poole. We are one of a very few independently owned orthopaedic referral practices in the UK. The practice was established by Dr Philip Witte and Dr Harry Scott, who are amongst the most highly qualified and experienced veterinary orthopaedic surgeons in the country. Harry and Phil are both Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Diplomates in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) which is the highest level of orthopaedic qualification that can be attained in the UK. Harry also has European Diplomas in Veterinary Neurology and Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Harry and Phil have recently been joined by Heidi Kaniok who is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a European specialist in small animal surgery.

Pricing

Our pricing is transparent and very competitive. We operate a fixed-price policy for everything that we do so there are no unexpected costs or nasty surprises. Our fixed prices for surgical procedures are all-inclusive with no hidden charges for re-examination, additional X-rays or medication. What we quote is what you pay; the only exception to this would be if additional problems are uncovered as a result of our investigations.

Guarantee

We offer a 12 month surgical guarantee for all of our procedures. All medical and surgical procedures carry a degree of risk and like every other referral clinic we cannot guarantee that there will not be any complications following surgery. However, our complication rate is so low that we can offer a full 12 month surgical guarantee for all of our procedures so that if something does go wrong after surgery, whatever the cause, we will treat the complication and only charge you for the cost of any additional or replacement implants or prostheses if needed (T&Cs apply).

Because our focus is on the spine and musculoskeletal system we are able to offer the highest standards of care at highly competitive prices.

We offer a friendly and caring personalised service. We guarantee that your pet will always be treated by an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, not by a junior vet or trainee.

Quick referrals

We don’t like long waiting lists. Urgent cases are usually seen the same day. For non-urgent cases we will see your pet within a few days of referral and many investigations such as X-rays and CT scans and some surgeries are performed the same day as the consultation. We do not think it is reasonable to have a long waiting list for dogs and cats to be seen when they may be in considerable pain.

Meet Our
Team

We have assembled a skilled team that includes Dr Philip Witte and Dr Harry Scott, two of the most experienced orthopaedic surgeons in the UK. Harry and Phil worked together from 2008 to 2020 at a growing multi-disciplinary referral centre. During that time Phil underwent specialist training, culminating in his RCVS accreditations in surgery and orthopaedic surgery. Harry was Phil’s mentor and teacher during this time. They have an excellent working relationship and they were delighted when, after a hiatus of four years working in different centres, the planets aligned and an opportunity to develop a new centre arose.
