Fractures and Dislocations

Both Harry and Phil are experienced in all manner of orthopaedic and spinal trauma surgery. We recognise that in the emergency situation it is often useful to request help in managing the acute trauma case, and we make ourselves available for telephone conversations (01202 022994). From fracture/dislocation in any region of the spine to the simplest physeal or diaphyseal greenstick fractures in skeletally immature animals we have the expertise and the facilities. We aim to achieve excellent outcomes for all fracture and luxation cases at reasonable prices without delay. We pride ourselves on being one of only a few clinics in the UK offering interlocking nailing for long bone fracture fixation. Locking plate technology is used when appropriate, including for spinal fractures. Although we have all manner of sophisticated tools at our disposal, the surgeons at Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics have general practice backgrounds and recognise the value in simplifying treatments where possible to avoid high costs and potentially expensive complications. In short we have everything we need to manage your fracture and dislocation cases to achieve optimal outcomes.

Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics is set up specifically for the treatment of orthopaedic and spinal conditions. If your patient has additional life-threatening injuries, then these should either be managed prior to referral or the patient should be referred to a centre that is equipped to manage such conditions.

We were among the first to offer a guarantee to cover the costs of complications (T&Cs apply) when we worked together at another centre and we are pleased to offer this peace-of-mind at Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics.

A popular annual 3-week on-line CPD course for veterinary general practitioners and those seeking to follow a path to specialisation “Managing Common Fractures” is run by Phil in conjunction with Vet CPD.
